The area can be reached by traveling up 101 from Newport.The town has over 2100 people living there.The Alsea bay is about 6 miles long with tidewater extending 12 miles up river.There are a number of moorages and launching areas on the bay. The area has a number of view homes on both sides of the river and there will be several waterfront homes on the river as you drive east or west on Hwy. 34.
